Are Beaktivity toys safe for my parrot?

Yes! Safety is our top priority. Our toys are crafted usingbird-safe materials, including natural wood, leather, and stainless steel -no plastics, vinyl, or toxic finishes.

How long do Beaktivity toys last?

The stainless-steel toy base is designed to last a lifetime. Refills are made to withstand heavy use but will need to be replaced as your parrot chews through them, which is part of their natural enrichment and play.

Are Beaktivity toys eco-friendly?

Absolutely! Our refillable system reduces waste by eliminating the need to throw away entire toys. The durable toy base can be reused for years, and our refills are made from environmentally friendly materials. 

What sizes are available for Beaktivity bird toys?

Beaktivity toys come in four sizes to accommodate birds of all types:

  • Small – Parakeets, Cockatiels, Parrotlets, Lovebirds
  • Medium – Conures, Senegals, Quakers, Caiques, Pionus, Amazons, African Greys, Eclectus
  • Large – Cockatoos, Macaws, Large Amazons
  • Extra Large – Macaws, Large Cockatoos

How do I get started?

Explore our site to find the perfect toy for your parrot! Choose the right toy base size and model for your parrot, select natural or colored wood blocks, and select the strength of the wood blocks that are provided. Select your options for subscription refill kits or order refill kits as needed. Your parrot’s new favorite toy will be on its way in no time!

What materials are Beaktivity toy bases made of?

Our toy bases are constructed using304 stainless steelparts, includingcables, thimble anchors, spring links, swivels, bolts, and beads. The crimps arealuminum. We donotuse galvanized steel, zinc, or coated finishes, as these can be toxic to birds.

What types of wood do Beaktivity toys use?

Beaktivity toys are designed to match the chewing preferences of different bird sizes and beak strengths. Our wood selections ensure the right level of challenge and durability:

  • Small & Medium Toys: Choose between Soft Wood (Balsa & Thin Eastern White Pine) or Medium Wood (Thicker Eastern White Pine pieces).
  • Large & Extra-Large Toys: These now feature a mix of Medium and Hard Wood for balanced engagement and durability.

This approach ensures enrichment, engagement, and longevity without requiring customers to choose a specific hardness level for larger toys.

How do the refillable components work?

Each toy features a durable stainless-steel base that lasts a lifetime. You can easily reload it with refill kits that include blocks, ropes, leather straps, and charms to keep your bird entertained.

We offer different strengths (hardness) of wood varieties because we know that some birds like softer woods while others are kept busy by more challenging harder wood. Refills are available as one-time purchases or through our subscription model.

What kind of dyes are used in Beaktivity toys?

We use100% plant-based, food-grade coloringsmade fromcarrots, sweet potatoes, radishes, and spirulina—withno artificial dyes, chemicals, or toxins. Our colored and natural wood blocks are sourced and processed toensure the highest quality and safetyfor your birds.

Are these toys made in your home?

No, never. Our shop and headquarters are in a separate detached building with its own ventilation and utilities. Our avian friends are not allowed in the shop, as we take the health and safety of our products seriously and follow strict hygiene practices.

One of our founders, Sue, has worked in hospital operating rooms for over 20 years and brings her experience in cleanliness and contamination control to our daily operations. Our shop is maintained with strict adherence to cleanliness protocols, ensuring that our products are safe, hygienic, and free from any risk of avian illness contamination.

How do I clean and maintain my toy base?

Beaktivity toy bases are designed to last a lifetime. They can be cleaned, sanitized, and even placed in the dishwasher. However, we recommend:

  • Avoid prolonged soaking or leaving them in wet conditions.
  • Dry thoroughly after cleaning to maintain their integrity.
  • If you ever experience any issues with your toy base, please contact us for assistance.

CUSTOMIZATION & SIZING

How do I choose the right toy size for my bird?

At Beaktivity, our philosophy is go big or go home. We believe most bird toys on the market are too small and don’t keep larger birds engaged for long. That’s why Beaktivity toys are designed to be larger than expected and packed with four times more enrichment items than typical bird toys.

Our toys are designed to maximize engagement without taking up too much space in the cage. If your bird’s cage has limited space, we recommend the Boomerang Toy, which offers a compact yet enriching experience.

Can I customize my bird's toy to suit their specific needs?

Yes! Our refillable system allows you to personalize your bird’s toy with various refill options, including wood blocks, leather straps, and charms, ensuring your bird stays engaged with fresh materials.

SUBSCRIPTION & ORDERING

How does the subscription model work?

Beaktivity’s subscription service delivers monthly refill fun kits to keep your bird engaged. You can choose from 3-, 6-, or 12-month plans, with the flexibility to customize, pause, or cancel as needed.

  • Billing: Charged on the 22nd of each month.
  • Shipping: Kits are prepared fresh and shipped on the 1st of each month.
  • Order Deadline:

a. Orders placed before the 21st will ship the following month.

b. Orders placed after the 21st will be processed for the next available cycle.

  • Customization & Changes: Contact us before the 21st of the month to update your preferences (wood type or dyed/natural blocks).
  • Pausing or Canceling: Pause or cancel your renewal before the 21st to avoid charges for the next cycle.

Can I customize my refill fun kit, including wood type or color preference?

Yes! You canchange your wood type (Soft or Medium for Small & Medium toys) or switch between dyed and natural wood blocksat any time. Justcontact usbefore the21st of the monthto update your preference.

Can I pause my subscription?

Yes! Notify usbefore the 21st of the monthtopausefor the next cycle. Your subscription term will be extended accordingly.

When are subscription orders billed and shipped?

Billing: Subscription orders and renewals are charged on the 22nd of each month.

Shipping: Refill kits are prepared fresh and shipped on the 1st of each month. You’ll receive an email confirmation when your kit ships.

Order Deadline:

Orders placed before the 21st will ship the following month.

Orders placed after the 21st will be processed for the next available cycle.

Does my subscription renew automatically?

Yes. All subscriptions renew automatically unlesspaused or canceled before the 21st of the month.

Can I buy a refill fun kit without subscribing?

Absolutely! You can purchase aone-time refill fun kitwithout a subscription - perfect forgifting or donatingto an avian rescue organization.

Can I send a refill fun kit as a gift?

Absolutely! Simply enter therecipient's shipping addressat checkout and include apersonalized notein the designated section.

What if I’m not satisfied with my purchase?

We stand by the quality of our products. If you’re not completely satisfied, please contact our customer support team within 30 days of purchase, and we’ll work to resolve the issue or provide a refund.

If at any time you have an issue with your toy base we want to know about it. We have extensively tested our toys with large birds with strong beaks without any toys being damaged. However, if you have an issue, we want to hear from you so we can resolve the issue.

Do you offer international shipping?

Currently, we ship within the USA, but we are working on expanding to international locations. Stay tuned for updates on global availability.
